August 2022

In August it was a bit cooler than July but still very dry and sunny. Towards the end of the month it rained a bit.

It was during August that I realized that we will have a recession in winter. I am certain there will be a recession in the winter months because the price cap on electricity and gas will go up and cash set aside for spending will be used to pay energy bills. I'm not a grim outcome seeker, or a super intelligent man, I'm just an ordinary man that can see where the ball is going. I think many small businesses will stop making profit soon because people will be spending less and they will be paying more. In mid October people will turn their heating on at night and will have less money to spend.
I was looking at the James Web Space Telescope site often. They were looking at all sorts of things. They even saw the atmosphere of an exoplanet and could see that is was made of carbon dioxide; 90's-alan would never imagine in his lifetime that we would look directly at planets in other solar systems.

I can now see what 12 years of British austerity has done to the police force. Many lawless people felt free to brandish weapons during daylight hours and use them. There was even a little girl shot dead in Liverpool. It was very obvious that we had a lot more crime. It has been steadily increasing. You can't compromise the police force  without increasing crime unfortunately.

Several people from inside technology companies claimed that their AI thinking machines were conscious and self-aware. Many people are worried that thinking machines will become sly and turn against mankind. The question is, can you become sly just by thinking or is it a design feature. I try to imagine machines being my friend. If they do things that people could never do then they will create more jobs or if they only do our jobs better then they will destroy our jobs. I don't know what is going to happen. I can only guess.

I try to be happy. I have to pray more and try to feel ok.

Raids and views

I saw a viral video of about 50 young teenagers raiding a McDonald's restaurant in Nottingham. I thought to myself, how can 50 young people come together and agree to do it. They even threatened the staff. They jumped over the counter and went into the kitchen and stole the food. The sad thing is the police won't be able to do much because they look like they are too young to face prosecution. I feel like my country is turning into a lawless mess. People are getting stabbed, there is armed robberies happening everywhere and crime is rising very high. The mind has to be somewhere else, I feel scared of the winter months because it will be my first winter paying over 10p per killowatt-hour for gas, heating a home will be challenging.

I had a look at the 'James Webb' space telescope website jwst.nasa.gov, I noticed they have been looking at Jupiter recently. I thought they were wasting time because there is already a Juno space probe going around the planet. They also zoomed into the cartwheel galaxy and saw structures that were hidden from other telescopes. The hubble telescope can see infra-red light but it can't see mid infra-red so there is a whole other spectrum that is visible with this new telescope. I'm just wondering when they're going to zoom into 'Proxima B' our nearest known exoplanet that is going around the Proxima Centauri red dwarf star, the nearest known star to the Sun.

Knife Crime

Very often I hear the news on my radio  and I find out that another Brit has been stabbed. As an ordinary man I understand what is happening. Young people are being sold the gangster lifestyle because the cost of living in the UK is too high so being a gangster is a way out of mediocrity.
The trouble is that it doesn't end well because it comes with a ready made turf war. The outcome of the war is someone gets stabbed or shot.

It is like Dorothy the door to door, door salesman. She will knock on doors and ask people if they want to buy a door and they will say no thanks I have one already and gets a door closed in her face.  It doesn't end well for her.

Or

James the bond investment advisor for a failing bank. He looses his job to a free investment advice panthlet.

Or

Gary the gangster, he stabs a rival gang member for selling contraband substances on his turf,  now he has a stab at prison porridge for the rest of his life. He is the lucky one because he is still alive.

How do you keep the gang salesman away from the young person? How do you convince these people that it is not worth it? I don't know. I can only ask the Question.

Masked Court

Inside my head there is an Island that is roughly the size of the Island of Britain. This island is ruled by good sense and hindsight. Because I never needed to talk or write about it, I never gave it a name. For the sake of you the reader I will call it Prudentika, the most Prudent Island in the world.

The island has court rooms but they work differently to normal court rooms in other countries. In Prudentika, every person that enters a courtroom must wear a mask and a cloak so they can't be recognized and they can't be judged by their appearance. If there is a tattoo on the defendants face, it won't affect the judgement of the jury. The jury would rely on the spoken account of the defendant and evidence to make a verdict. The Defendant can't give an intimidating stare because the Judge is also wearing a mask and can't be identified. It works well boh ways
The mask is put on the face of all the people in court by a specially trained civil servant. I will call this servant the Mask keeper. The masks are cleaned and maintained by the Mask Keeper.

The Mask keeper checks all the people in the courtroom are wearing their masks properly and can't be identified. When the mask Keeper is satisfied that the people in court are masked well, he would play his flute to start the court session. The tune could be a peaceful tune, like, " don't worry, be happy" :-p. The flute is unnecessary but it is nice to have cultural flair.
