Andy Burnham

I recently learned that Andy Burnham will replace Kier Starmer as the leader of the United Kingdom. I don't know much, all I know is he intends to move some of the administrative departments to Manchester and he wants to develop the rest of the country evenly. In a way I agree with that, I think there is too much going on in London and the rest of the island is being neglected. When they opened cross rail, I thought to myself there is already two train lines going to Heathrow, why do they need three? Places like reading and Swindon with half a million people living in them don't even have a metro rail service. They just have a national railway station and buses. 

We are between England games in the world cup and this is what's happening over here. Getting ready for a new leader. 

I was just thinking about how I could one day make a tilt ball arcade machine. I don't have the time or space to have such a hobby. It is the one type of arcade machine I think I could make. Perhaps I could make a little one first. 

Sometimes all that is left is imagination. 

Liz Truss Takes the Helm

A few days ago on Monday morning I learned that Liz Truss won the leadership race and became the Prime Minister of the UK. The impression I got from Liz Truss is that she is a problem solver, someone that has been solving complicated problems all her life. She worked in high positions in 'Shell' and 'A T &T' before. She now has a very big problem to solve so this will be interesting. I think her Dad is a Maths Professor. 

I was thinking, if they lowered VAT to about 15%, they would get the same revenue as last year because everything is inflated. That would help everyone because it would bring down the prices. VAT is 20% now so when I buy 5 t-shirts, one of them is just tax. I guess it's not that simple, right? 

This last six months of inflation has proven that we can't afford to rely on fossil fuels to power our world. I would say we should use water power because there are rivers everywhere on this island. We could put water wheels everywhere. I read somewhere that the average wind speed in the UK is highest in Europe but then I think to myself how long do those large windmills need to spin before they even offset their own carbon footprint; they have to burn a lot of fuel to make each one of those things. Why don't they make lots of smaller windmills instead of large ones. I don't know. 

Boris Johnson Resigns

I learnt this morning that Boris Johnson will resign as prime minister in Autumn. This means there will be a 3rd conservative Party leadership race. The first one was when David Cameron resigned, the second one was when Theresa May resigned, now Boris Johnson will resign. I think the reason he resigned is because many of his team quit. They felt that they had broke too many rules and caused the public to not trust the conservative party. Plus they lost some recent by-elections. Integrity is always very important.

We are days away from seeing some of the oldest light transmitted in the universe from the James Webb Space Telescope, it will be a summer of insight and a political summer for the Brits. We will see into the past and wonder who will be the next leader of the UK. It will be very interesting to see what happens. What will JWST discover and who will lead the UK?

When my son was born in Spring 2019, Theresa May was the leader but she quit because her team couldn't break the Brexit deadlock, Boris took over and his team was able to break the Brexit deadlock. But now he will quit because his team broke some of the rules that they made and caused the public not to trust them. 

Government Mutiny

When I watched PMQs (Prime Minister's Question time) on TV and read leadership tweets throughout twitter, it is very obvious that the 'Conservative' Party are having a  mutiny. Many MPs are trying to get Boris Johnson to resign. I don't think there is much the conservative party can do, it was the whole group that was throwing a party during Christmas lockdown and breaking their own law. They can only hope the Brits forget about it by the time there is a general election in about three years, if they have a snap election now, they would probably lose or have a hung parliament. 

I'm just a servant, I try not to have an opinion but I understand people's anger because some people had to leave their relatives on their own to die in the Hospital; many people were isolated from their relatives throughout the Pandemic, they celebrated their birthdays and Christmas alone. The same is true of my Son's birthday, when he was one years old we stayed in our home away from the other relatives and even when he was 2 it was a low profile event with just a few relatives.
