Sweat and Wedge

Very often I am thinking about a wedge inside an air duct with air flowing over it. The wedge is able to seperate the air flowing over into two air flows, one air flow is high energy molecules, the other is low energy(Warm, colder).
My thought experiment is inspired by sweat, when we sweat the fluid evaporates on our skin and the molecules that have high energy evaporate first and leave behind lower energy molecules, your sweat is separating high and low energy molecules and that is why it cools you down. Our bodies cool us down because molecules that have more heat evaporate more quickly so there is an imbalance.

If you could seperate high and low energy molecules in the air then the air flows will change the air pressure around them, the warmer air molecules will cause normal air to expand and the low energy molecules would cause the surrounding air to shrink. In an enclosed space the shrinking and expanding air would cause wind, that would turn a turbine and generate electricity.

The question is how could you cause the high energy molecules to go on one side of the wedge and low energy molecules on the other without using more energy than the turbine generates? The goal of the system would be to reduce net heat in the air to generate electricity. It is a puzzle I created in my head that I can't solve. I would love to have a small workshop and build test rigs to try different things.

Wedge Thoughts

Very often I am thinking about a wedge inside an air duct. I was thinking that if air passed through an air duct and passed into a wedge, could there be a very energy efficient way to cause colder air molecules to go on one side of the wedge and warmer ones to go on the other side. If I give the air molecules a small charge and there is a magnet in the surface of one side of the wedge, the air molecules with more energy would be less effected by the magnetic field and pass through that side of the wedge more easily.
Then I wonder if I can make the lower energy air molecules meet the warmer air molecules further down in the device so a strong vortex is created that can turn a turbine.

Every time I have such a thought I think to myself that the energy harvested from the two air flows would be less than the energy used to prepare the two air flows.
I am certain it wouldn't work so then I try to change it again and again inside my head. I try to make machines in my head that take heat from the air and convert it to electricity but I fail every time.

This is what makes me happy, trying to solve a problem in my head that seems impossible to solve, like a dog chasing his tail.

Car and Global Famine Thoughts

On this last bit of summer, I have become convinced there will be a global famine in the near future so I was thinking it would be a good idea to store extra food that lasts a long time for a grim period. We all live off plants, we eat tomatoes and rice, farm animals eat plants so even people that eat meat are eating plants. When crops fail a lot across the planet then food will become scarce and very expensive. Best to store light things like pasta and not too much tim food, the tins would be too heavy and damage the floor if you had thousands of them.

I was also thinking about what I would call the 'EV super deal'; owning an new electric vehicle and paying only £200 per month for Finance, Insurance and Recharging. A car deal that resembles a phone contract. As far as I am aware, no such deal exists at the moment but I keep looking.

I also was thinking about e scooters, wouldn't it make sense just to paint an orange line on the pavement, the pedestrians know to stay away from the orange line and the e scooter rider knows they need to stay as close to the orange line as possible. Electric scooters make sense because they are powered vehicles and use electricity, they are good for the environment.

I also tried to imagine what an electric car would look like in the future. I imagined there would be more space in the cabin because there is no engine block and no bonnet, there would be room for 9 seats and the car would still be small. I also imagined the wheels would be smaller than today's cars because the breaking system doesn't use friction so the wheels don't need a large surface area to cool down, the factory that makes the wheels could fit more of them in a truck if they were smaller. I also imagined there would be a lazer projector on the car that projects dots onto the road because they don't make any sound and people get run over often so they should see the lazer dots on the road before the car. I also imagined the car would be covered in solar panels that let visible light pass through but use infrared and Ultraviolet light to generate power. I also imaged that the kinetic transmission is in the wheels, there would be no kinetic transmission inside the car itself. In today's cars, kinetic transmission starts in the middle of the engine block and moves backwards to the gear lever cartridge then through an axel to the wheels; in the future the wheels themselves would be the electric motor. This is all just a guess based on my logic.

Preppers

This summer, a large portion of the Earth was either soaking wet or burnt to a crisp. In my view, this climate instability threatens the Human food chain. I think that it is very likely that we will have a global famine very soon. Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea to put away the odd tin can of food for long term storage. I could put 10 cans a week or something like that and make sure they are used before the best before date so they are rotated. Not saying I would do that, I'm just writing down that I am thinking about it. Those doom's day preppers on TV don't seem crazy anymore. They are very logical.

If there is one thing I can be grateful for it's having plenty of food to eat now, perhaps like Joseph in Egypt, I am seeing a vision of a future where the food is interrupted, crops failing, bees dying fruits not being produced, wheat and rice running low. Now? No, I can go to the market place and buy a 7.5 kg bag of potatoes for less than £2  but perhaps in the future it won't be that easy, we will see.

New Controller

I recently damaged the two controllers for my Sega Mega Drive mini  replica emulator, I spilt coffee on them; The Sega mega drive is the same as Sega Genesis but it was released for Europe because our TVs worked differently to the American ones in the 90s.

I ordered new controllers, wireless compatible ones. The new wireless controller is much better than the original one, it has an extra three buttons and is compact, it fits in the hand better and has a nice feel to it. The controller is wireless so I can sit where I want. If 90's Alan was playing on my Sega mega drive emulator he would prefer to play the side scrolling platformer games like sonic the hedgehog or mega man but I am different now, I prefer the RPG games, there is 4 RPG games on there.

Sega mega drive was one of the major games consoles of the 90s. I want to collect all of them, I want to collect all the licensed replica mini emulator consoles that were popular in the 90s; The 80s Nintendo (NES) , Super Nintendo, PC engine/TurboGrafx 16, Atari VCS, play station one. If they make a Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 mini emulator I would like to have those also. I would also like to assemble a Raspberry Pi and put a DOS emulator on there.

Turtle Power

When I was a young kid, I would watch an animated TV show called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It just dawned on me that I am the real Mutant Ninja Turtle. I am slow, stubborn and cool,  "Give me a break". I am a turtle.

;

I went to one of those discount food supermarkets, I won't name them, they have metal baskets that sell Yoga mats and Bird feeders and things like that. When I got to the checkout, the clerk was scanning the food very quickly and piled the food up into a small mound before I could bag it up. Then she said "That is £40". I said "ok, hold on while I finish bagging up these items". She repeated the price to me again she said that will be £40. I said, "thank you" and I carried on bagging up the items slowly. She then said "You're holding up the queue". I said, "Sorry about that, and carried on slowly bagging up the items". Then an alarm went off because the payment was taking too long and the store manager came out and looked at me. Then when I finally finished packing the items I paid the £40. The store manager and the clerk looked pissed off. I thought to myself 'turtle power' because I stayed cool. They didn't know that I was angry because I didn't want to be rushed and I was still polite and stubborn at the same time. I am the real Mutant Ninja turtle, "alantello".

When I drive I follow the speed limits, drivers accelerate behind me at 50mph on a 30mph road and suddenly slow down because my car is in their way. Then they flash their lights at me to drive faster and I don't respond, I just carry on driving at the correct speed. They give me special signals with their fingers and I don't care, I just carry on driving as if they weren't there, super cool and slow.  "Cowabunga", what ever that means.

Mid August thoughts

Common thoughts that I am having in the middle August in 2021 is realising that there is a lot of Ragime changes this year, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Hungary, even the USA.

I am also regularly looking for the E.V. super deal, I want an electric vehicle that costs less than £200 per month to run including insurance, recharging and finance. I sense it will only come along when someone invents the low cost high capacity battery, the power cell that doesn't use rare earth metals like Lithium. I wait patiently for a genius to invent it and change the world for the better.

It was in the middle of August that I used a smart bulb for the first time. I can ask my smart speaker to turn the light off or on for me and even change the colour. I can also set routines so the light changes colour and turns off and on at different times of the day according to a schedule set by me. I can even set time triggered routines so my smart speaker will say things without being prompted. If I learn a lot from my smart speaker, then it is worth getting.

Afghanistan Hell

In the space of about one week, the Taliban toppled the Afghan government and made themselves the official government of Afghanistan, I would call it a rapid ragime change. I have no opinion, I keep an open mind and just listen. I wish them all good health and peace.

At the same time there was a huge Earthquake in Haiti and a tropical storm. The Nation of Haiti are having a lot of bad luck at the moment, I think the Leader was even assassinated the previous month but many people didn't seem to care very much. I will ask people what they think and see if they are even aware of the disaster happening in Haiti.

I look outward for a happy and peaceful outcome.

Ragime Change

This weekend the Taliban took control of the Capital city of Afghanistan, Kabul. They stormed the Government building and declared themselves the official government of Afghanistan. Changing governments has been a theme for 2021 with the  Myanmar Coup and the new American President.

I would call  the Afghanistan occupation the biggest waste on Earth. My government and the American government invaded Afghanistan and spent vast amounts of money trying to prop up a democracy and make Afghanistan like them and caused ordinary soldiers to die or have PTSD and injuries. I will recognize the invasion and 20 year occupation of Afghanistan as a mistake. Everything they did was for nothing.

The Dutch have an airport with 6 runways, they have bike roads built for every road, they have green mega factories, they have maga dams reclaiming land from the ocean and countless wise investments in themselves, perhaps we should be more like the Netherlands.

Plymouth Shooting

Yesterday while there was a huge civil war in Afghanistan, a British man shot his mum dead and killed 4 other people, then he shot himself; the incident happened in Plymouth, a sea port town in South England. I was angered by the attack, especially after I learnt that one of the people killed was a 3 year old Girl.

I have been through tough times myself, my birth mother was killed in a car accident when I was very young. I found it very hard to fit in socially and had very few friends in life and felt like I had very little respect, but in the end I developed coping mechanisms in my head that kept me on a level state of mind. I play and I pray. I pray to Jesus for peace and joy and I play computer games like Tetris or Solitare. I also create machines inside my head and then realise they don't work and try again to make them work. I talk about my problems and I clear my head so I can learn new things. I read, I play and I learn.

If you feel like Jake Davidson and want to kill other people then you need to take steps to remove that way of thinking from your head. You need to remember that you will die eventually so you have to keep your chin up till the end. Try to learn new things instead of thinking of the same stinking thing every day.

Afghan Civil War

This month the American troops were withdrawing from Afghanistan and soon after the Taliban reclaimed large parts of the country. As I am writing this post there is a huge civil war in Afghanistan. There seems to be a mixed reaction from the civilians, some people feel safer with the Taliban in control, others feel like they are making negative progress or going backwards.

I get the impression that the last 20 years was a waste of life and resources because everything they were trying to do didn't produce lasting fruits. Afghanistan is returning to the way it was before. Quite a lot of British foreign aid went to Afghanistan, perhaps they should just invest all the money on themselves next time.

Now I wonder what the neighbouring countries think of the situation. They share a border with Iran and Pakistan I think. I wonder what those two countries think of the Taliban annexation.

Train Frame

If I was the Mayor of London or the Leader of my country, I would have a frame built around trains that operate on the surface. The top of the frame would be covered in solar panels, the sides of the frame would be covered in vertical trays that grow herbs. It would look something like this ⬇️
The solar panels wouldn't power the trains directly but would export the power back to the grid, the power exported would be more than the trains use so it would increase revenue to the transport sector and help to keep the running cost down. The herbs growing on the side of the frame would be harvested by robots and dried inside a cavity below the solar panels, the dried herbs would be sold to produce markets, the bodies of the herbs would absorb carbon dioxide. They would also make the train lines look less ugly. The inside of the frame would be covered in reflective metallic panels that reflect light from the train cabin.

I am just an ordinary guy but I can draw and share my thoughts and hope that leaders are inspired by them. If there is one thing I am grateful for, it is my imagination, a sweet gift for an ordinary man like myself.

Constructive thoughts.

The Med Burns

From the middle of Summer till now, the wildernesses of some Mediterranean countries has been burning up. Wild fires are burning across the Mediterranean region in Greece, Italy and Turkey.  The whole planet is heading for a runaway climate disaster, drought, fire, flooding and pestilence. Soon, I sense some land will be lost to the ocean and crops will fail, rivers will dry up and many will starve.

I look for an electric car that costs £100 to £150 per month in total including charging and financing, but I fail. They are usually over £200 per month plus a deposit without the recharge costs. The authorities are confiscating privately owned electric scooters, why? I don't know. That is the one thing I can buy now and use.

I keep looking and waiting.

Waiting for a genius

I'm waiting for a genius to invent the low cost high capacity power cell. A battery that can store a large amount of power and not cost very much to make. I think the cost of the battery is the only thing that is holding back electric cars. If someone invents the low cost high capacity power cell, I will hang their picture on my wall.

If financing and recharging an electric car cost less than £150 per month then I would still save money. Refilling a full tank costs me £40 every week at the moment, that is £160 per month.

That is what I do now, I look for an electric car that costs less than £150 to run per month. Plus there are fewer parts to go wrong and no road tax ; electric car drivers don't pay road tax in the UK.

The first week of August

It is the first week of August. This month so far I have learnt that some of the objects on the Google map app can be added as a shortcut on your phone's desktop, I can add a bus stop on the google map as a shortcut icon on my phone's desktop and bring up the dialogue box slate when I press it.

I have my mind set on getting an electric car because the price of fuel has inflated too high. As far as I know, there is no petrol station anywhere that sells fuel for less than £1.30 per litre. It literally costs me £40 to fill my small car with fuel, I don't know if the increase is because of inflation, or because everyone in the UK is driving to the coast instead of flying abroad for holiday. I see a lot of cars on the duel carriageway these days, more than before. Perhaps it is because the Suiz Canal was blocked for a week in March and there is a backlog in supply. I have no idea. In most petrol stations the price is closer to £1.40 per liter. What surprises me is why the news doesn't seem to mention it. The price of fuel will affect everything else I'm sure.

Birthday Thoughts

It was my wife's birthday yesterday, I was thinking about birthdays a lot. The Pandemic put a cap on what we could do for our Birthdays this year but hopefully things will be better next year.

In my view, if you have one family member that is born in April, the April birthday should be a day trip somewhere, like an amousement park or a museum. On the Island of Britain in April it is the middle of Spring and the weather is very unpredictable so you wouldn't want to commit to a long break. One day you could get frost in the morning, the next you could get a heat wave; plus it is usually quite busy in spring.

If you have another family member that has a birthday in July then I think it would be best for the July birthday to be celebrated as a weekend break because here in the UK it isn't quite holiday season but it is summer. I would love to celebrate my July birthday as a weekend break at the coast or at a resort near an area of outstanding natural beauty like the lake District, it would have to be a homeland break because it is just a weekend.

My wife's birthday is in August so I think that is the perfect time to go holiday overseas. It is in summer and during the holiday season.

I would say that it is good to have a 'Day Trip', a 'weekend break' and an overseas holiday that is for 10 days or more. Spend at least one third of a month in a nice resort, in a happy place.

Man Cave thoughts

I was thinking about recliners today. If I had a proper man cave, I would have 4 recliners in there. I would have 4 padded recliners with a foot rest and small side table for drinks on one side and game controller table on the other side. The padded recliner chairs would form a semicircle around a large flat screen TV or 4K Lazer projector with modern games consoles attached. The reason I would have 4 recliners is because 4 is usually the optimal number for multi player games, if you were playing Mario Kart it is best to divide the screen up into 4 during a race.

I keep happy thoughts in my head all the time. Happy thoughts.
