Heat Wave

It was very hot today, all the roads and concrete structures were giving off heat, they were storing it up and releasing it and it was humid. I can't help but think what it would be like if our homes were partially below ground and insulated from the elements, both the cold and heat.

If the majority of your home was laid out as a basement with a similar ratio to an iceberg then it would be cool in the summer and hot in the winter. When you see an ice berg in the ocean, most of it is under water.
There would only be a small portion of your home sticking out of the ground, the lobby and entrance. Everything else would be below the ground. You wouldn't know of it was raining, snowing or windy. Perhaps there would be some fake windows that always show nice weather, windows with a screen or lights behind them.

Tomatoes on the Window

At the turn of the millennium, I had cherry tomatoes growing on a window ledge in my room; back then the window ledge was on the outside. The window box sat outside in the cold, when the frost came it would kill the cherry tomato plant. In the summer and autumn I would get many cherry tomatoes. Now I am doing it again. I'm growing plants in my home that produce food.
I have some small tomato plants on my window ledge and this time the window ledge is inside. I may have to polinate the plant myself with a small paint brush but there should be no frost. As long as my heating system stays on, the plant will remain there. It is a small furry leafy shrub but soon it will be weighed down with tomatoes.

I have already figured out how to grow bell peppers inside my home, they're delicious and fresh. I love to eat peppers that grew in my home.

I even planted an avocado in a large pot to see if a small tree would produce fruit. I also want to see if I can keep the tree small.

That is how I have reacted to the inflation of food prices. I'm trying to grow my own food at home.

Window board buffet

One thing I was wondering was if the heat from a candle is enough to keep the frost out of a greenhouse during the winter months. If it was it would allow ordinary people to grow more food for themselves.
Then I was wondering if I could grow spinach in a box with LED lights to power the photosynthesis. I have recently figured out how to grow and polinate tropical fruit inside my home.
As a response to food shortages and high prices, I started to grow tropical fruit like peppers and tomatoes on window boards in window boxes. I turned window spaces in my home into a buffet table.

I lost many flowers because they don't produce fruit unless they're pollinated. There are no bees in my home so I used a small water colour paintbrush to transfer the pollen between the flowers. It worked. I think about 50 flowers fell off because they weren't pollinated before I tried to pollinate it myself with a small paint brush. I gently push the paint brush into the flower and rotate it to get some of the pollen, then I push the brush into another flower on another plant.
