The Election

Yesterday I voted for my local MP. They quickly counted all the votes and confirmed who is the current MP for high Wycombe.

It was a landslide victory for the labour party. I think the reason why is because the Reform party siphoned off some of the conservative votes. If the Reform party wasn't there, they would have voted conservative because the goals of the conservative party and the reform party are the same. To stop illegal people trafficking on the English channel and bring down some of the taxes to make Britain more competitive globally. 

The newly formed reform party acted like a wrecking ball and smashed some of the conservative votes. They split the center-right votes into two smaller groups. That is my opinion though, it may not be the truth. There were other things that may have brought down the conservatives, I remember the frivolous spending during the pandemic and the rule breaking in the cabinet. I won't name anyone but it happened too often and annoyed many ordinary people. 

I think if the Reform party wasn't there, the votes would have been very close and parliament would be hung. Perhaps we would be left with a coalition government. It's not my role in society to say who is more reliable or better. I just accept that it happened and observe the truth as I see it. 

Middle of April

It is the middle of April and the end of a political term here in Britain. Every 5 years during the first week of May we have a general election. 

I don't think about it much. I just make sure the person I'm voting for is ready to listen and sees my point of view a bit, I think it is ok if they have a different view to me sometimes. I think all politicians have to lie, they're not really sure their policies will be successful but they have to pretend to be confident about it, otherwise no one would vote for them. 

I have my coffee in the morning, then in the middle of the day I have my tea. Later when the work is done, I settle down, I watch a documentary or play computer games. I recall my teachers telling me I would be through with computer games by the time I was in my mid 30s. They're wrong. I still like to play computer games like a big kid. I still like to play card games on my phone and open world quest games on the TV. 

The Brits have spoken

The outcome of the new election is very revealing because it shows what the Brits are thinking.

The message I got from this new referendum is that the English don't want a second referendum. They just want an end to Brexit. The Scots have shown that they prefer the EU to the UK. The United Kingdom isn't important to many of them but staying in the EU is. The SNP have increased seats. Northern Ireland is heading the same way. They want the EU more than the UK and they feel betrayed by British Parliament.

What happens in the 2020s and beyond is only known by the gift of hindsight. No one can guess what the near future will be like.

Christmas election

Here in the UK, we are going to have an early general election during Christmas. There seems to be a party for everything.

If you want a second referendum or a soft Brexit, you could vote for Labour. Also they want to renationalise a lot of the infrastructure that was sold off during the eighties and nineties, Railways, utilities and things like that.

If you want to cancel brexit then you could vote for the Liberal Democrats. They made it very clear they would revoke article 50 as soon as they were elected.

If you want a hard clean break brexit then you can vote for the Brexit party. They will leave first and negotiate later.

If you want a hard brexit preceded by a transition exit deal then you could vote conservative. They want to keep all the taxes low because they think the growth created would more than compensate for the loss in public revenue and add some on top.

The outcome of the vote would be very revealing. I wouldn't be surprised if the result was hung all around because the Brexit vote would be split between two parties and those that want a soft Brexit won't vote lib dem. Well, we will see.

Vote and Mind

The British people are facing their biggest challenge in recent history. We will negotiate with the EU how we trade with the them.

We may be driven into poverty or we may rise to the challenge and make our country great.

I am using parts of my mind to lift up my spirits and try to focus on the good things. The crystal maze will return to channel 4.  That should be cool. I still make machines inside my mind that exact energy from the environment.

Diane Abbott

I don't know if it is just me but I have nothing against Diane Abbot, she is the shadow Chancellor I believe. She had a bad interview on the Radio and made a mistake but she is a human, People slip up all the time.

I also have nothing against Jeremy Corbin, I think he is a great leader and cares about the community. As always, when I vote for an MP I won't look at the party they are affiliated to. I will vote purely on their manifesto and If they respond to my messages. My current local MP ignores my messages and concerns so I won't vote for him. I will try one more time, I will send him my ideas and concerns on twitter and e-mail. If he ignores me then I won't vote for him because I want an MP that listens to me, I don't care about the party they are with. If the candidate engages with my messages then they will get my vote.

I feel concerned about the younger generation because they don't vote very much. By not voting they are choosing the needs of the older generations over theirs. The reason the previous government ended tuition support was because they know that young adults don't vote as much so they would prefer to protect state pensions because they know older people vote more. Also, the government is not building much housing because older people want their houses to inflate in value. The government is serving the older generations more because young people are not voting much. As soon as most young people receive an education they think they know everything and think that voting is silly, then they wonder why society is hard for them and easier for the wiser people.

I am grateful for the internet because my thoughts can go directly to the leadership and my messages can be read. Even this blog can stay here longer than me.
