Home town re faced

I am so grateful for all my good memories. When I was a young boy everything was special. I was easy to please and amaze. It was so easy to make me say wow. Now it is much more difficult.

Most of my childhood memories are attached to my home town of Burnt Oak in Edgware where I grew up.

In recent years my home town and nearby area has transformed a lot.

There was a place called yohan plaza on the Edgware road. This was a small oriental shopping mall. The first floor of the building was largely restaurants, there was a large buffet in the shopping mall that I remember very well, a favourite for the Booth family for eating out. The last time I was there was when I graduated in 2006, the building was demolished shortly after that.  Downstairs there was an arcade and even a show room for Japanese cars. It is gone now and just a memory but what a sweet memory it was. The site that was once a love for me is now being turned into a supermarket.

The B & Q retail park opposite the  colindale ASDA supermarket has been turned into a large block of flats.

Burnt Oak library has also been changed and has a refaced entrance. I loved my library and loved reading the books in there. I wonder how long libraries will still be around for.

The burger king where my younger cousin once had his birthday party is now an opticians.

The stone grove housing estate in Edgware has been knocked down and rebuilt with a new modern finish.

The street I lived in had a small green next to it, there was two oak trees and one giant ash tree. They are all gone now. All that remains is grass.

Edgware hospital has been largely rebuilt and is unrecognisable from what it was in the 80s and 90s.

Now it is time to create new memories. Last year I went to the Netherlands several times to see my fiance. I met the family she was staying with and loved them all. I loved the Dutch towns and trains. I will never forget my time there. It was like I was a child again, being amazed by new things.

When I move further away from London to live with my fiance I hope to have many wonderful memories and be very happy.

The most important thing in this world is happiness. If you are not happy that being alive is worthless.
