When people ask me why I don't eat meat, I tell them my list of animals not to eat is longer then others. Most people won't eat cats or dogs, they consider them to be sentient beings with a desire to live and a self preservation instinct.
Well I decided that sheep and cows are also sentient beings with a desire for self preservation along with all the other farm animals.
I think to myself that by being a vegetarian, I won't improve the animals quality of life because they still get hunted by other animals anyway. My thoughts and opinions don't always need to make sense.
That's very much a human thing way to be, we do things that don't make sense. If a person dies, they don't need their body yet we don't eat them, we bury or cremate them. We do irrational things because our consciousness values an extra zone of reality that can't be described.
I don't really talk about it until someone brings it up.
